REMEMBER MY NAME

Deeply moved and inspired by her Afro-Southern ancestry, turn of the century photographs, history, music and literature, Eaton explores the beauty and horror of being Black in America. Lush with imagery, the artist’s deep affection for her culture is woven into each painting. From deep indigo to the light "hant" blue of New Orleans, the artist is frequently drawn to a spiritual palette of blues. Part fact, part fiction, sometimes raw and undiluted, Eaton constructs narratives for the long forgotten and unnamed. These works are meditations on issues of flesh and spirit, things seen and unseen, that which is rarely heard and often unspoken.
